Menopause and its Symptoms

Menopause technically refers to the ceasing of menses; whereas the gradual process through which this occurs, which typically takes a year but may last as little as six months or more than five years. This is known as climacteric. Menopause can either be natural or surgically induced. A natural menopause refers to the ceasing of menses that is part of a woman's normal ageing process. A surgically induced menopause however refers to the ceasing of menses for reasons such as because of the woman had previous hysterectomy.

Vasomotor symptoms such as palpitations and hot flash together with psychological symptoms like increased depression, anxiety and lack of concentration, a woman may have an increasingly scantic and erratic menstrual periods.
