Yogurt, a natural remedy.

The natural yogurt may help combat halitosis, tooth decay and gum disease, as has assured a group of Japanese scientists who have discovered that eating yogurt reduces the levels of hydrogen sulfide, a major cause of bad breath. As explained at a meeting of the International Association of Dental Research, the key lies in some bacteria that contains active yogurt, specifically the “Lactobacillus” A total of 24 volunteers who participated in the study received strict instructions on oral hygiene, diet and consumption of drugs. They spent two weeks without eating yogurt and similar foods, like cheese. The researchers then took samples of saliva and layer of the tongue to measure levels of bacteria and components that cause the odor, including hydrogen sulfide. The volunteers ate 90 grams of yogurt each day for six weeks. At the end of the study, researchers took samples again. They found that levels of hydrogen sulfide had fallen by 80% of the participants. In addition, levels of plaque and gum disease, gingivitis, were significantly lower among those who ate yogurt.
